RRB Station Master Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit, Relaxation

RRB Station Master eligibility 2026 is defined in CEN No. 08/2026, and the first condition is a Graduate Degree. Candidates of 12th pass level are not eligible for this post, and the final year students whose result is pending also cannot apply. Age, nationality and medical standard are checked as per the dates given in the notification.

RRB Station Master Eligibility 2026 at a Glance

The eligibility is first accepted on a provisional basis, based on what the candidate types in the form. The board checks the original papers only at Document Verification, and a claim that is not backed by a certificate is cancelled there.

RRB Station Master Educational Qualification 2026

The post parameters in Annexure-A ask for a graduate degree from a recognized university or its equivalent. The notice does not name any stream, subject or minimum percentage, so a degree in arts, science, commerce or any other field is treated alike as far as the notification goes.

The degree must be complete on the last date of online application, that is 25 November 2026. A candidate who has given the final exam but is waiting for the result should not apply. This warning is repeated more than once in the notification, and at one place it is in capital letters.

How the result date is checked

The certificate should carry its date of issue. If the provisional or regular certificate is issued after 25 November 2026, the candidate has to show a consolidated marksheet with the date of result declaration, or all the semester or year marksheets with the declaration date of each. Where even the marksheets have no date, a letter from the university or board that tells the result date is needed at document verification.

Is Station Master 12th pass post?

No. This is a common myth. The notification asks only for a graduate degree, and there is no entry for 12th pass or diploma holders in the post parameters. A student who has just passed 12th have to complete graduation first. The selection process article shows what comes after that.

Final year students

Students in the last year of the degree fall in the "result awaited" group, so they are not eligible this time. If the result of the final exam is declared on or before 25 November 2026 it counts, because the notice asks for the result declaration date on the papers.

RRB Station Master Age Limit 2026

The age is counted as on 1 January 2027. The notification gives the normal range as 20 to 33 years, and then converts it into birth dates for each community. Both dates in the table are inclusive.

The dates for OBC (NCL) and SC/ST candidates already includes the community relaxation, so it should not be added once again. The latest date, 01.01.2007, is the same for everyone and it fixes the minimum age of 20 years.

The date of birth in the form must be the same as in the Xth class (matriculation) or equivalent certificate. The board will not take a request to change it later, and a difference leads to disqualification.

RRB Station Master Age Relaxation 2026

The relaxation is given only if the candidate attaches the needed certificate. Here is the full table from the notification.

Some rules which go with the table :

• Only the highest relaxation is given when a candidate fits more than one. They are not added together

• SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates who apply against unreserved posts get no age relaxation

• The date for claiming any category benefit is the closing date, 25 November 2026

• The notification does not mention any age relaxation for PwBD candidates

A serving defence person who expects release within a year from the closing date may also apply, for the Ex-Servicemen posts as well as the others, and the degree is needed by 25 November 2026 for them too. The notice defines an Ex-Serviceman in detail and leaves out people from the Defence Security Corps, General Reserve Engineering Force, Lok Sahayak Sena and Paramilitary Forces.

Nationality for RRB Station Master 2026

A candidate must be one of the following:

1. A citizen of India

2. A subject of Nepal

3. A subject of Bhutan

4. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam, with the intention of settling in India for good

Candidates of the groups 2, 3 and 4 need a certificate of eligibility given by the Indian Government. They are allowed in the process provisionally but the certificate must be shown at document verification, otherwise the candidature is rejected.

Medical Fitness for RRB Station Master 2026

The post carries the A-2 medical standard. It means the candidate should be physically fit in all respects, and have the distant vision 6/9 and near vision Sn 0.6 without glasses, with normal colour, binocular, night and myopic vision. The notice rules out anyone who underwent Lasik or another surgery to correct eyesight. The vision certificate from an eye specialist are a must on the CBAT day.

Reservation Related Eligibility

The category claimed in the form decides the benefit, and a change in the category after the closing date is not recognised. Anyone can compete for the unreserved posts, if the conditions for UR is met.

One RRB Rule and Other Conditions

The notice allows one application to one RRB. The choice of the RRB is final, and sending a second form with small changes leads to rejection of all forms and a ban from future RRB and RRC exams. The apply online guide explains how to choose the RRB and zone.

Candidates who are serving in a central or state government department or a PSU can apply, after informing the employer. The No Objection Certificate has to be produced within the time given or at DV.

Who Should Not Apply for RRB Station Master 2026

• Those who are awaiting the final result of the degree

• Candidates who are debarred by any RRB or RRC and the period is not over

• Those dismissed from service of the Government of India, a state government, a PSU or any government organisation

• Candidates who had Lasik or another surgery to correct refractive error

• Those who cannot meet the A-2 vision standard

• Candidates whose date of birth in the form is different from the Xth class certificate

• A person who is going to send more than one application

• People who are not citizens or one of the other permitted groups

Selection in this recruitment is by merit, and no agent or coaching centre is appointed by the RRBs.

Ques: What is the qualification for RRB Station Master 2026? Ans: A graduate degree from a recognised university or its equivalent, which should be complete by 25 November 2026.

Ques: Is Station Master 12th pass eligible? Ans: No. The post is of graduate level and 12th pass candidates are not eligible.

Ques: What is the age limit for RRB Station Master 2026? Ans: The age limit is between 20 to 33 years as on 01.01.2027. The birth date range is 02.01.1994 to 01.01.2007 for UR and EWS candidates.

Ques: Is there any minimum percentage in graduation? Ans: No minimum percentage is mentioned in the notification. The notice does not name any stream.

Ques: Can I apply to more than one RRB? Ans: No, only one RRB can be chosen and the choice cannot be changed. All the forms are rejected if more than one is submitted.

Ques: Is Lasik surgery allowed for Station Master? Ans: No. The candidates who had Lasik or other surgery for eyesight are not eligible for the A-2 medical standard.

Ques: Which date is used to count the age? Ans: The age is counted on 1 January 2027, and the qualification and category are checked on 25 November 2026.
