RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026 Notification Out for 1,265 Vacancies, Apply Online (CEN 08/2026)

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026 notification under CEN No. 08/2026. The online application started on 27 October 2026 and the candidates can apply till 25 November 2026 (23:59 hrs) on the official application portal. Station Master is a Level 6 post and is open to graduates, so many aspirants who were waiting for this vacancy will find the details below useful.

RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026 Highlights

RRB Station Master 2026 Important Dates

The dates below are as per the CEN. The exam date is not announced yet, so keep checking the official website for the updates.

Candidates should note that the eligibility conditions are checked as on the closing date, that is 25 November 2026. Those who are waiting for the final result of their graduation should not apply.

RRB Station Master Vacancy 2026

Vacancy note: The "Vacancies at a Glance" table on the third page of the notification shows 1,215 posts for all RRBs. But the RRB-wise and zone-wise table given in Annexure-B adds up to 1,265 posts, and the category figures (542 + 176 + 104 + 296 + 147) also total 1,265. So we have used 1,265 in this article. The board has kept the right to change the vacancy numbers later, hence candidates should keep an eye on any corrigendum before they apply.

Category Wise Vacancy

Out of the total posts, 133 vacancies are for Ex-Servicemen (ExSM), as shown in the last column of Annexure-B.

RRB Wise Vacancy (Top Boards)

There are 30 RRB and zone combinations in the table. The boards with the highest number of posts are given below.

The complete RRB wise and zone wise table is given in Annexure-B of the notification. Each candidate gets one RRB choice only, so look at the posts of your board and zone before you fill the form. The name of an RRB does not always show the city where the candidate will be posted.

RRB Station Master Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent on the last date of online application. There is no mention of a minimum percentage of marks in the notification. The final year students whose result is pending are not eligible.

Age Limit

The age is counted as on 1 January 2027. The usual age range for Station Master is 20 to 33 years, counted on 1 January 2027, and the birth date limit of each category is shown in the table below.

The limits for OBC (NCL) and SC/ST already include the community relaxation. A candidate of these categories who goes for an unreserved post does not get any age relaxation (para 8.4 of the CEN).

Age Relaxation

Railway employees who are working in Group C (or the old Group D) for at least 3 years can apply up to 40 years of age if they are UR or EWS, 43 years for OBC-NCL and 45 years for SC/ST. Widowed, divorced or judicially separated women who are not remarried have the upper limit of 35, 38 and 40 years respectively. When a candidate fits more than one relaxation, only the biggest one is applied and they are not added together.

The date of birth in the application must be same as in the Matriculation or Xth class certificate. Any difference will lead to disqualification.

Medical Standard

The medical standard for the post is A-2. As per the notification, the candidates should be physically fit in all respects, with the visual acuity given below.

• For distant vision the candidate needs 6/9, and this should be met without glasses and without a fogging test

• For near vision the requirement is Sn 0.6, again without glasses

• The candidate must also pass the tests for colour, binocular, night and myopic vision

If a candidate is found medically unfit at the time of the medical examination, an alternate appointment will not be given.

RRB Station Master Application Fee 2026

The application fee is paid online only, through internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. The service charges, if any, are to be borne by the candidate.

The candidates who claim the fee concession under the EBC category should read paragraph 10.2 of the CEN carefully. Do not mix up EBC with OBC or EWS. For the concession, the candidate must hold a valid EBC certificate, BPL card or Izzat MST at the time of applying. If the details are changed in the modification window, a modification fee of Rs. 250 is charged each time, and it is non refundable.

RRB Station Master Selection Process 2026

The selection for Station Master has the following stages.

1. Computer Based Test (CBT), single stage

2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

3. Document Verification (DV)

4. Medical Examination

First the board picks candidates for the CBAT from the CBT merit list. That means 8 candidates for every vacancy of the RRB, counted separately for UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and EWS (the ex-servicemen are counted inside these). Those who clear the CBAT go into the final merit list, where the CBT carries 70% weightage and the CBAT carries 30%. For Document Verification, the board calls as many candidates as the number of vacancies, in the order of merit. In case of a tie in marks, the elder candidate gets the higher rank, and if the age is also same then the given name (not the surname) is taken in A to Z order.

The RRBs only recommend the names of the empanelled candidates. The appointment is offered by the respective Railway Administrations.

RRB Station Master Exam Pattern 2026

The CBT is a screening test and the standard of questions will be in line with the educational standard of the post.

Section Wise Distribution

The board says this split is only a guide, so the real question paper can be a little different. The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC (NCL) and SC, and 25% for ST. The same is applicable to Ex-Servicemen as per their community.

RRB Station Master Syllabus 2026

Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability (60 Marks)

This section has two parts of 30 marks each.

Basic Science and Mathematics (30 Marks): Number System, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Percentages, Profit, Loss and Discounts, Time, Speed, Distance, Power and Work, Algebra, Linear Equations, Arithmetic Progression, LCM, HCF, Geometry and Trigonometry, Area and Volumes, Probability and Statistics (both at basic level). From science, the topics are Units, Measurements, Mass, Weight and Density, Work, Power, Energy, Kinetic Energy, Friction, Speed, Velocity, Relative Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines.

Data Analysis and Interpretation (30 Marks): Multi-source data analysis, that is examination, analysis and inference drawing from text, tabular data and data shown graphically. The graphs can be charts, bar graphs, scatter plot, pie chart, statistical curve distribution and Venn diagrams. Data Sufficiency and Data Arrangement are also included.

Logical Capability (20 Marks)

• Logical Reasoning: Binary Logic, Syllogism, Clocks and Calendars, Assumptions, Blood Relations, Family Tree and solving logic based puzzles.

• Reading Comprehension: Passages in English from subjects like History, Society, Literature, Science, Environment, Abstract, Mythology, Technology and Culture. The questions are on the main idea, supporting idea, application, logical structure and style of the paragraph

Mental Reasoning (20 Marks)

Analogy, Series Completion (finding the pattern in a sequence of numbers), Coding-Decoding, and problems based on Ranking and Arrangements.

The topics given above are examples only, as per the board, so the candidates should prepare a little beyond this list also.

RRB Station Master CBAT 2026

The CBAT is an aptitude test that comes after the CBT, and only the shortlisted candidates are called. On the day of the test, the candidate must carry the original Vision Certificate in the format of Annexure VI or VI A, otherwise entry to the test will be refused.

• The questions and answer options are in English and Hindi

• A candidate needs a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery, and this is applicable to all categories. No relaxation is given

• There is no negative marking in CBAT

• Candidates should qualify in every battery to be considered for the post

RRB Station Master Salary 2026

The post of Station Master is in Level 6 of the 7th CPC pay matrix with an initial pay of Rs. 35,400. Allowances are given in addition to the basic pay as per the rules, so the in hand salary will depend on the city of posting. The notification does not give the take home salary figure.

How to Apply Online for RRB Station Master 2026

1. Visit the official RRB website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and go to the page of your chosen RRB. The application link is live on rrbapply.gov.in.

2. Candidates who made an account for any CEN of 2024, 2025 or 2026 can use the same login, so there is no need to register again. A new user should click "Create an Account" and enter the details with care, because the account details cannot be corrected later.

3. Verify the identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar. The notification says that those who use other photo IDs will go through stricter scrutiny at every stage.

4. Choose the RRB and the railway zone as per your eligibility. The choice of RRB cannot be changed later.

5. Fill the application form, upload the scanned documents and the live photo as asked, and submit it.

6. Pay the application fee online on or before 27 November 2026.

7. Take a print of the final application for your record.

Important points for the candidates

• Send one application only. If a candidate applies to a second RRB, all the applications are rejected, and the candidate can be barred from later RRB and RRC exams also.

• Give your personal phone number and email address, and keep both of them active till the recruitment is over. All the messages from the RRBs go there, and a change is not possible on request.

• The exam city and date will be allotted by the board. Request for change of city, centre, date or shift is not allowed under any circumstances.

• Mobile phones, watches, calculators and similar items are not allowed in the test centre. The pen is provided at the centre.

• Beware of the fake websites and job racketeers. Use only the official RRB website.
